How Much Should I Feed My Dog?

Most owners search this question when a new bag arrives or the dog's weight shifts. Resting-energy math starts with weight in kilograms, applies a life-stage factor, then divides by the calories printed on your food label.

This preset uses a 45-pound neutered adult eating twice daily. Controls below let you switch to puppy, senior, weight-loss, or active factors and edit calories per cup. Portions round down to the nearest eighth cup so you do not accidentally overfeed.

The number on the bag is a starting point and often runs high. Weigh monthly and adjust with your vet if coat, energy, or stool change.
